Client: Get Living
Oobe were invited to develop proposals for a new development quarter in the heart of Glasgow, close to existing cultural and heritage hubs, but currently restricted by transport arteries on two sides. Our proposals responded to the rich surrounding influences, both historically and current, and aimed to maximise input from all the senses.
Revealing the hidden character
The site sits above the now culverted Molendinar Burn, a hidden water channel that helped to shape Glasgow. To reconnect the city with its water source our proposal looked at how we can experience beyond site; sounds echoing the water, smells and touch of native plants, all immersed within an urban context. Playful sculptural interventions reflect the creative context of the development, with nods to the infamous Barrowlands and Glasgow’s musical heritage.
