OOBE, working with Ryder Architecture, are working on proposals for phase 1 and 2 of the new site for the development of the University of Reading’s Thames Valley Science Park (Phase II) adjacent to the M4 motorway to the South of Reading. The gateway building comprises offices and fitted laboratories and will be positioned as a centre of innovation for the Thames Valley enterprise economy. Currently arable farmland close to a village, the landscape proposals need to work hard to ensure the built form sits comfortably within this setting whilst responding to the site users requirements. Plazas, courtyards and gardens create a variety of spaces within the vicinity of the building for the human users whilst new areas of native woodland and planting beyond minimise the visual impact of the development and provide a variety of habitats for the flora and fauna!
