Take 100 landscape architecture students, 4 landscape architects, 1 live development site in Leeds and a design brief and what do you get?

A very exciting educational and practical opportunity for the students of the University of Sheffield.

Every year the University arranges an event that provides their students with experience working with industry; and this year OOBE Landscape Architects are the main sponsor of this fantastic event.

Mike Goodall, one of OOBE’s founding directors, tells us;

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the landscape architects of our future to gain real practical experience designing landscape for a live site.

The event is a two-day design challenge around the Tower Works site in Leeds. The students will be divided into four teams and given a brief for them to create a design and then move to pitch it to landscape practitioners.”

The design charrette, held on the 7th and 8th November, is expected to attract 100 students from UG levels 1,2,3 and PG-MA1 with each team made up of a mix of the year groups and support provided by an OOBE Landscape Architect.

Mike concludes;

“We’re always extremely supportive of our universities and this competition allows us to provide many students with the valuable experience of working in a team, with industry professionals on an existing site.

We’re really excited to see what proposals the students come up with!”
