Bringing together very different pieces of architecture and turning a bland outdoor space into a hub of social activity has resulted in OOBE successfully becoming a finalist in the Northern Design Awards on the 24th November 2018.
The University of Huddersfield project was completed in time for the June 2016 open day and has been recognised as a one of the best landscape designs in the North of England.
Sophie Tombleson tells us:
“We are over the moon that this project has been recognised by the industry.
We identified key links for pedestrians and vehicles within the space and beyond which informed the spatial layout and worked through various design constraints. The result is a high quality, pedestrian priority square that provides the University with a multi-functional space that enhances the student and visitor experience.”
Sophie goes on to say;
“The team at OOBE have delivered yet another wonderful design that not only looks amazing, but also adds great value to the University. Great design like this helps to attract future students in a very competitive market. The once uninspiring space is now being utilised as an outdoor multi- functional events area, which adds such a positive social aspect to university life, which is a great attraction.”
