Client: Haberdashers' Aske's Federation
Location: Lewisham, London
Hatcham Temple Grove provides the primary stage of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College for pupils between 3 and 10yrs old. Following a fire in May 2010 this inner city school is being refurbished and extended in preparation for its re-launch as a free school. The site is typical of many Victorian era schools – tight and limited in external learning space. Our proposals create a range of facilities including working gardens, a science garden, a nature garden, play equipment, a performance area with amphitheatre and a Multi Use Games Area.
New life for a Victorian school and playground
Bright coloured graphics painted onto the playground surface and mounds wrapped in coloured safety surfacing will transform a previously un-inspiring yard into a vibrant space for learning and play.
