OOBE are currently working alongside +3 Architecture and Jomast to gain planning permission for change of use of a former office block into a Hotel and student apartments, which includes the design of a high quality courtyard space.
Contemporary facelift to an existing urban courtyard
By pushing the boundaries of the brief beyond simply delivering a scheme with the required functionality, we have created a fantastic space which responds to the day and night life of its users. External dining areas extend out from existing and proposed bars onto terraces.
A shared surface emphasises pedestrian priority whilst maintaining vehicular access to the remaining car parks and providing drop-off to the new hotel. Whether passing through the space or dwelling within it, the courtyard will provide a contemporary feel, achieved through the choice of materials and geometric planting which, when viewed from the upper floors of the hotel or apartments will appear as a modernist style painting.
