Edinburgh's Western Villages: Shaping the Future with the 20-Minute Neighbourhood Strategy

🏘️🌿 I am Mike Goodall, Director at OOBE, and I'm happy to add to the progress update from CCG (Scotland) Ltd on the Western Villages project in northwest Edinburgh. This development is about reimagining the way we live and thrive in our urban environments.

The Western Villages project is a part of the Granton Waterfront Regeneration Masterplan and is delivered in partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council. What makes it exceptional is its alignment with the 20-Minute Neighbourhood Strategy. This strategy aims to create communities where residents can access most of their daily needs within a 20-minute walk or bike ride, which promotes greater sustainability, health, and a stronger sense of community.

The Western Villages project is designed to be Scotland's largest operational net-zero carbon residential development. It represents one of the first steps in a £3.1 billion investment in Granton over the next decade.

The integration of vital landscape architecture fosters a sense of place and belonging for residents, promoting social cohesion and overall well-being. It's an exciting time for Edinburgh, and we are proud to be part of this transformative journey.

Thank you to CCG and The City of Edinburgh Council and the valued design team members for the collaboration. Let's keep working together to shape a better future for our communities, one project at a time.
