Peebles Community Campus

Client: Scottish Borders Council
Location: Scotland
Construction Value: £40M

The new campus will be a state-of-the-art facility, offering high-quality education and delivering a wide range of benefits to the entire community.

In collaboration with Stallan Brand and Turner and Townsend, and as part of the dynamic partnership with HUB South East, OOBE was selected to spearhead the landscape design for the transformation of Peebles Community Campus.

Drawing inspiration from the charming fields and streets of Peebles, both the architectural and landscape elements have been meticulously crafted. This design seamlessly weaves into the local fabric, embracing the rhythm of the community's composition. A grid format, carefully curated, brings a contextual responsiveness to the forefront. The addition of avenues of trees and well-placed greenery fosters a sense of rhythm while encouraging an unceasing flow of movement.

The rejuvenation of the existing green public space is a central feature of this project. Its reimagining is focused on forging connections to the region's verdant natural assets and enhancing the local biodiversity. Beyond its functional role, this space will offer residents, students, and visitors a direct link to the beauty of nature. It is a recognized fact that spending time in green spaces contributes significantly to both mental and physical well-being.

Peebles Community Campus is a visionary project that combines architectural excellence with a landscape design that celebrates the essence of this community. It's more than just a place; it's a reflection of the heart and soul of Peebles.

A focal point for the town of Peebles.
