Napiershall Street

BACKGROUND

Napiershall Street stands as a prime example of integrated urban development, artfully blending new build construction with the sensitive retrofit of existing structures. As the landscape architect for this Kelvin Properties project, OOBE has focused on creating a cohesive and high-quality environment that serves the evolving needs of the community.

Our detailed Stage 4 landscape design for Napiershall Street not only provides a harmonious setting for the refurbished building but also significantly enhances the communal amenities available to residents. The project prioritises the provision of high-quality, usable, and year-round communal amenity spaces, including vibrant roof terraces and inviting ground-level gardens.

The detailed landscape design offers a well-considered layout that seamlessly complements the retained refurbished building while providing an appropriate and inviting setting for the newly proposed block.

THE CONCEPT

Key to the ground-level design are the innovative rain gardens and diverse outdoor gathering spaces, which promote both ecological well-being and social interaction. Furthermore, a commitment to sustainable practices is evident in the creative reuse of existing on-site wall throughout the landscape detailing.

The roof terrace, a significant feature of the second new block, has been designed to offer a variety of uses. This elevated green space also plays a crucial role in contributing to Biodiversity Net Gain, demonstrating a holistic approach to environmental stewardship.

RESULTS

The landscape interventions employed to create these spaces are diverse and thoughtfully integrated, ranging from Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) to adventurous play areas and tranquil, reflective seating opportunities. This considered blend ensures that Napiershall Street provides a truly high-quality living experience, fostering a strong sense of community and enhancing the overall quality of services available to its residents.
