Earth Day
April 22nd was Earth Day, and it is also Claire Hunt’s Birthday!
So in true style, we celebrated by sponsoring a brilliant event with Women in Property Midlands and The Canal and Rivers Trust at the Roundhouse in Birmingham.
The morning was a deep dive into the hidden potential of the city's blue corridors and a reminder that Birmingham’s canals are a vast, underutilised asset. Beyond their industrial heritage, these waterways are essential for regional ecological connectivity and have a tangible impact on our daily mental wellbeing.
As landscape architects, we see a massive opportunity to go beyond the towpath. By designing for wellbeing, accessibility, and play, we can encourage community ownership of these spaces. Whether through biodiverse planting or creative wayfinding, our canals should be the connective tissue of a modern city.
Here are some images from the walk.
