As the landscape architects for this pioneering project within the wider £1.3bn Granton Waterfront regeneration, we have been working hard alongside CCG (Scotland) Ltd, Cooper Cromar, and the wider design team to bring a fresh, sustainable way of living to northwest Edinburgh.
Western Villages isn’t just Scotland’s largest operational net-zero carbon housing development; it’s a blueprint for the future of urban design. The project is built entirely around the 20-Minute Neighbourhood strategy, ensuring that residents have nature, active travel routes, and daily essentials right on their doorstep.
The council’s new video gives a fantastic glimpse into how these five residential blocks and interconnected courtyards are taking shape.

Our landscape design focuses heavily on fostering social cohesion, well-being, and biodiversity. From opening up stunning views toward the Firth of Forth to embedding safe, bi-directional active travel routes and introducing sustainable urban drainage (SUDs), the outdoor environment is designed to seamlessly connect people with both nature and their neighbours.
With easy access to Forthquarter Park and the coastal promenade, Western Villages is proving that climate-resilient, sustainable growth can also mean an exceptional quality of life.
